The Nighttime Spectaculars return to the Disneyland Resort

Finally the much-anticipated nighttime spectaculars return to the Disneyland Resort on April 22, 2022.

Perhaps the most anticipated event is the “Main Street Electrical Parade.” This is a favorite among Disney fans, myself included. With the colorful lights and mesmerizing, not to mention addicting, music, this parade delights all ages. And I do mean ALL ages.

Upon the return of the spectacular, the folks at Disney have added additional floats. To commemorate the new film Encanto, there is a colorful depiction of the Madrigal casitas along with the characters from that film. Moana also appears in the updated parade as well as Elsa, Anna, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Jasmine, Mulan, Miguel and others. The grand finale consists of seven segments representing 14 different Disney stories. It stretches 118 feet long. Wow. With a brightly decorated version of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, this is a nighttime spectacular deserving of the word “spectacular.”

For those of us who are familiar with this beautiful parade, it might be strange to think it is celebrating its 50 anniversary. It has come and gone from the parks several times. But thank goodness it has returned.

The “Disneyland Forever” fireworks show is also back. It can be viewed from several locations around Disneyland, with projections and special effects accompanying the music and the sparkling displays overhead. The updated spectacular includes two original songs: the theme Live the Magic and Kiss Goodnight have been added to the show.

Also, to celebrate its 30th anniversary is “Fantasmic!” returns. This is a colorful spectacular representing classic Disney films with enchanting music. “Fantasmic!” returns May 28, 2022.

Also returning to life on April 22, 2022 is “World of Color” at Disney California Adventure. Paradise Bay is the location for the spectacular water show showcasing many of the Disney characters and films. As the scenes play out on the water sprays, guests will definitely be enchanted by the technology and wonder that the folks at Disney have captured. And you thought H2O was only good for swimming and drinking!

Besides the return of the nighttime spectaculars, guests will be able to purchase merchandise commemorating the shows. (What else? It’s Disney after all!)

Enjoy nighttime at the Disneyland Resort with the return of the wonderful and memorable nighttime spectaculars.
