‘Love in the Clouds’ is fun and romantic

Category: Television and Streaming

Anyone who has ever attended the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta knows how magnificent it is and memorable to see hundreds of hot air balloons ascend at the same time and float over the city. That is exactly what reporter Brooklyn (McKenzie Westmore) discovers when she is sent from Seattle to Albuquerque to cover the Fiesta. But this intrepid reporter gets more than she bargained for.

Brooklyn brings her videographer Elise (Alexis Zollicoffer) along with her. They are to be hosted by hot air balloon pilot Jared (Paul Greene). Jared is not only a hot air balloon pilot, he is plain hot! Sparks fly between Brooklyn and Jared but there is something in his past that keeps him from acting on his emotions.

His cousin Carlos (Koppany Pusztia) is his assistant in his balloon business that specializes in romantic balloon rides. Carlos helps with the balloon as well as mans the chase car to be there wherever it lands. He is immediately attracted to Elise, so there are two budding relationships in store this week.

Not only does the Fiesta host hundreds of balloons but there are other events taking place during the week and Brooklyn is eager to experience them all.

Now, on top of the four main characters, add Jared’s parents Brad and Jane (Lorenzo Lamas and Gail O’Grady) who are dealing with their new life as retirees.

Brooklyn has not told anyone she is afraid of heights so she is relieved when the balloons are not allowed to ascend on the first day due to winds. Elise volunteers to go up when they are allowed to ascend, giving Brooklyn a reprieve. But that doesn’t last long as Jared takes her on the Sandia Peak tramway which, for those who have not had the pleasure, or freight, of traveling up the mountain in a tram then traversing over a valley from one peak to another, is quite something for anyone the least bit nervous about heights.

It doesn’t take any time for Jared to realize how terrified of heights his new friend is however his calm demeanor manages to calm her down. They also have fun with other events in town that have nothing to do with heights! That’s a relief for Brooklyn.

The Fiesta is a magical experience and Brooklyn as well as Jared finally let their emotions take over and allow themselves to open up to each other and yes, fall in love.  But her assignment is only for a week so she has to return to Seattle. There is one consolation though, she has applied for a job in Albuquerque and is anxious to quit her job and boss-zilla in Seattle.

This is a fun show that is uplifting (pun intended) and enjoyable. And for those viewers who have never experience the wonder of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, it might be the inspiration for their next vacation. The Fiesta begins the first weekend in October so mark you calendar. And in the meantime, check out Love in the Clouds now streaming on Hallmark Plus.
