‘The Stars Between Us’ on Hallmark+

Category: Television and Streaming

Seven years ago Kim met Malcolm at a solar eclipse viewing in Illinois. They met, talked, then went their separate ways. Now they are both back at the same location for another solar eclipse. What are the odds that a total eclipse would be at the same place and what are the odds these two would return for the event?

Kim (Sarah Drew) is now a single mother in Chicago. Her dreams of being an on-camera news reporter are not happening. She works behind the camera but now has her big chance to prove she can cut it as an on-camera reporter. She is tasked with covering the eclipse, so she heads out to the event with her camerawoman Claire (Donna Benedicto) and her producer Reed (Grayson Gurnsey). It is his first time being a producer, and he is not getting the hang of it very easily.

Malcolm (Matt Long) is now a professor at a junior college in Arizona. He is excited to once again see the eclipse and brings his colleague and friend Travis (Noah Paul) to help him with all his equipment.

Kim bumbles her way through her first efforts at being an on-camera reporter. As hard as she tries, she is not as good as she wants to be. And Reed is just as bad at being a producer.

While Kim and Reed try to get the hang of their new jobs, Travis and Claire meet and strike up an instant connection. Throughout the day, Kim just misses bumping into Malcolm. And with each of their friends striking up a relationship, it would make sense they would get together. But that is not the case. There is one salvation, though. Some things are meant to be.

Viewers might wonder if the romantic connection in this film is with Travis and Claire rather than Kim and Malcolm. But in true Hallmark fashion, no one will be disappointed as, yes, Malcolm and Kim reunite, and believe it or not, their reunion is on camera during a live national broadcast.

A fact that keeps coming up in the story is that the sun is 400 times wider than the moon and is 400 times farther away from the earth than the moon. But somehow, during these amazing cosmic events, the moon completely blocks the sun from the earth.

For those interested in solar eclipses, this website has the schedule of eclipses for the coming years.

In the meantime, The Stars Between Us is a cute rom-com with not only one romance, but two. It is available to stream on Hallmark+.
