My Boyfriends’ Dogs on Hallmark

dogs3This new Hallmark Channel original movie will warm your heart. My Boyfriends’ Dogs stars Erika Chirstensen as a woman in search of true love.

The film begins with Bailey (Christensen) running into a diner wearing a wedding dress, drenched by the rain, accompanied by three dogs. Just how did she get in this situation? The owners of the diner, Nikki and Louie (Joyce DeWitt and Michael Kopsa), are eager to hear her story.

Bailey loves dogs. Unfortunately, her last pooch recently passed away, so she is living alone in her dream house. Even though her mother (Teryl Rothery) thinks she should get another dog, Baily isn’t ready. What she really wants is a man to share her house and her life.

My Boyfriend's Dogs
Then Bailey meets Wade, who seems like the perfect man. He has a Golden Retriever named Adam who adores her. Wade turns out not to be the perfect man. Then she meets Jonathan who also seems like a great guy. His Dalmatian is named Eve. Needless to say, Bailey and Eve are great together but Jonathan is, well, not what she expected. Next on the list is Eric. Eric isn’t a dog lover, but he accepts her love of dogs and even adopts a Shih Tzu named Shirley.

So, what happened to Bailey with all these men and the dogs? She tells the entire story at the diner as the Nikki and Louie hang on every word. Who could make up this kind of thing? A runaway bride with three dogs in tow?

My Boyfriend's Dogs

Christensen is adorable as the woman who tries to be the perfect mate to the three men, but along the way she loses her self. The one constant in her life is her love of dogs, and their love of her. She has a way with the furry fellows and they provide the warm and fuzzy aspect of the story – no pun intended. After all, who wouldn’t love Adam, Eve, and Shirley? Just looking at their faces is enough to warm your heart, and that’s what they do for Bailey. But are dogs enough in her life? What she really needs is a man who loves her for whom she is as well as loves dogs as much as she does.

Okay, you know this is a Hallmark Channel movie so it’s going to leave you with a nice ending. It’s a movie that will have you feeling happy and probably eager to hug your own dog, if you have one – or two or three.

My Boyfriends’ Dogs premiers Saturday, October 18, 2014 on Hallmark Channel. Grab your pooch and settle in for a cute dog-gone (I couldn’t resist) little film.

The Hero of Color City – Movie Review

Fusion x64 TIFF File

Christina Ricci, Rosie Perez, Wayne Brady, and Craig Ferguson supply the voices for a fun and colorful cast of characters in the new animated film The Hero of Color City. It’s a cute film for kids with plenty of scenes and witty dialogue that will strike a chord with their parents too.

Ben is a nice little six-year-old boy who loves to draw. Every night when he is asleep, his crayons come to life and travel, via the crayon box, to a magical land called Color City. This is where crayons live. In Color City they enjoy the beach, a spa, and other activities. The city gets it life – and color – from a magic rainbow that creates a waterfall. The waterfall flows down the mountain and provides the colors for the crayons.

Fusion x64 TIFF File

One night, two of Ben’s unfinished drawings of a king and a gnat decide to follow the crayons to Color City hoping to get colored and finished, once and for all. But what happens is a bit more than they imagined.

The crayons believe the king is a monster. King Scrawl and Gnat discover the rainbow and the waterfall and head off to collect the colors to complete them so they won’t just be scribbles, not knowing that by doing so they are creating havoc in the city. All of the crayons are fading and soon will be transparent and disappear unless they stop the king from taking all the color away.

Each crayon has his/her own personality. Yellow is timid and afraid, black is gloomy, brown is the sheriff of Color City, blue is cool, green is organized, white is anxious, and red is strong. They must travel through the city, up the mountain, restart the waterfall and return to Ben’s room all before he wakes up, or they’ll be lost forever. It is the most timid, yellow, who finds her inner strength and ultimately saves them all.

Fusion x64 TIFF File
The movie is filled with life lessons, including the fact that colors are all around us, everyone is special in his/her own way, and we shouldn’t be quick to jump to conclusions about others. It’s an imaginative story bursting with color and music.
This is a film created for preschoolers and kindergarteners, however parents won’t be bored when watching with their kids. There is a scene reminiscent of the famous Empire State Building scene in King Kong, a nod to The Karate Kid, and a professor that, if human, would be played by a bumbling Jerry Lewis.

Fusion x64 TIFF File

So, whether your child’s favorite color is tangerine, periwinkle, baby blue, navy blue, orange, aquamarine, white, brown, black, red, tutti fruitti, yellow, pink, or the color of refried beans, there is a fun crayon in the film with an individual personality and a lot of heart. At the end of the film is a request to recycle old crayons so other children will be able to create with colors. Go to crayonecollection.org for more details.

The Hero of Color City is rated G and opens in theaters October 3, 2014 and it’s available on iTunes/OnDemand October 3 as well.

Along Came a Nanny on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

Along Came A Nanny Final Photo Assets

Cameron Mathison and Sarah Lancaster star in the original Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Along Came a Nanny. This is part romantic comedy, part mystery, and all fun.

When Detective Mike Logan (Mathison) goes undercover in Poplar Point, a ritzy suburb, he gets more than he bargained for. There have been a rash of burglaries in the area and the police are nowhere near solving the crimes. Logan feels like he could crack the case if he gets close to the community. He goes undercover as a nanny. Yes, a nanny, or “manny” as he prefers to call his job. But this guy has no idea how to clean a house, make dinner for a family of four, and entertain two young children. He’s a mess when it comes to his undercover job, but even so, he knows by being close to the people in the neighborhood, he will solve the crimes. After all, it appears as though the heists were inside jobs, so to speak.

Mike is befriended by the other nannies on the block, and he is especially taken with one in particular. Jessie (Lancaster) is friendly and extremely good at her job. She and the other nannies find Mike’s ineptness kind of cute.

Along Came A Nanny Final Photo AssetsThe more Mike investigates the burglaries, the closer he gets to Jessie, and the better he gets at his job as nanny. Who would have thought that this self-proclaimed super cop would take to being the caretaker of a high-powered family? He goes from not being able to open a juice box to preparing fabulous meals and helping the kids with their problems.
As he investigates the crimes and becomes closer to the two children, things start to fall into place. He turns into a combination of Mary Poppins and Colombo. How’s that for an image? And when Jessie starts playing amateur sleuth, they are unbeatable. Could this be the start of a new Hallmark series?

Along Came a Nanny is a fun little film. It premiers Sunday, October 12, 2014 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel.

Gone with the Wind – 75th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition

wind75box

The 75th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition of the 1939 epic movie Gone with the Wind contains hours – if not days worth – of amazing additional features as well as some extra goodies.

When you open the box, which is limited to 62700 numbered units in the edition, the first item is a companion book Forever Scarlett: The Immortal Style of Gone with the Wind, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow by Austin Scarlett that focuses on the clothing of Scarlett O’Hara. Fashion designer Austin Scarlett describes the style of the iconic character and how he desires to bring her beauty, class, and strength to his own designs.

Two other collectible mementos come in the box. There is a replica of Rhett Butler’s handkerchief. The bright white cloth is embroidered with the blue initials RB. And the final goodie in the box is a musical paperweight. This little music box plays the iconic theme, with a photo of Rhett and Scarlett on the top.

The Blu-ray Box

This new Blu-ray (along with the Ultraviolet Digital HD download) is the focal point of the edition. Four discs give fans of the film and Hollywood buffs a lot more than the epic movie. Yes, Gone with the Wind looks spectacular in High Def. This Blu-ray disc shows the film in all its splendor and beauty.

The bonus features are worthy of an entire day or two of viewing. There are hours upon hours of bonus material. One feature focuses on the year 1939, which turned out to be an epic year for Hollywood. The studio system was in its glory. Babes in Arms, Beau Geste, Captain Fury, The cat and the Canary, Dark Victory, Gone with the Wind, Gunga Din, Gulliver’s Travels, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Intermezzo, Love Affair, The Man in the Iron Mask, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Ninotchka, Of Mice and Men, Stagecoach, The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle, Stanley and Livingstone, They Shall Have Music, The Wizard of Oz, Wuthering Heights, The Women, and Young Mr. Lincoln were only some of the popular films released that year. 1939 was the “peak of Hollywood.”

Another feature celebrates the 70-year history of Gone with the Wind. This film was released theatrically six times, and every time it was as popular as when it premiered.

Gable: The King Remembered is an interesting documentary hosted by Peter Lawford. This 1975 TV movie describes Clark Gable as “the kind of man that any man would like to be.” He made 90 films and had many loves and losses during his lifetime. Carole Lombard was, however, the love of his life. When she died in a plane crash, Gable was devastated. He enlisted in the Air Force and became an aerial gunman during World War II. There are many personal tidbits that come out in this documentary, including the fact that Clark Gable loved children. Who would have thought?

wind75

The list of bonus features includes featurettes about Vivian Leigh, Olivia de Havilland, and one about the restoration of the film.

Two all-new features in this edition are Old South/New South, a documentary about the South during and since the Civil War. Southerners think of Gone with the Wind as “a national epic.” It conjures up a time of leisure and class. 150 years after the Civil War, remnants are everywhere in the South. This is indeed a region trying to reconcile its past with its future.

Another all-new feature looks at how Atlanta was transformed and transfixed by the premier of Gone with the Wind in December 1939.
The complete 6-hour film MGM: When the Lion Roars is also in this box. This film is brought to you on a double-sided DVD. The 1992 TV mini-series won the Emmy for Outstanding Informational Series.

Perhaps the two most impressive bonus features are The Making of a Legend: Gone with the Wind, a 1988 two-hour documentary, and the 1980 TV movie The Scarlett O’Hara War. Personally, I think these should be viewed one after the other. They really put together a detailed and entertaining, as well as interesting, look at how this film came to be.

Christopher Plummer narrates The Making of a Legend: Gone with the Wind. This documentary describes how David O. Selznick purchased the rights from Margaret Mitchell for her book and how not only he but others on the picture were personally invested in the movie each and every day, to the point of exhaustion. It’s amazing to hear about all the rewrites, the directors who came and went, and came back again, the fact that there was never a full and complete script, and how Clark Gable was apprehensive about taking on the role of Rhett Butler. The search for Scarlett is well known, and this film looks at many screen tests of amazing actresses who vied for the part.

Another interesting little tidbit many fans might not know is that to make room for their sets, the filmmakers had to burn down the existing sets on the studio’s backlot. These sets included one from King Kong. They decided to use this to their advantage and filmed the burning of the sets, with the help of film crews with firefighters standing by, to depict the burning of Atlanta. Since no Scarlett had yet been cast, there was a stand in riding next to a stand-in Rhett. There are so many details about the making of this movie that viewers will have to watch this documentary several times to get the full impact of everything that went into it.

And if you notice in the scene where the ground is covered with wounded Confederate soldiers, well, some of them were dummies, which were manipulated by extras on the ground who were next to them. There are many fascinating details in this documentary that most people don’t know about.

The Scarlett O’Hara War stars Tony Curtis as David O. Selznick and Harold Gould as Louis B. Mayer. This is a fun look at how the filmmakers schemed and plotted to find the perfect actress to play the coveted role. They pitted actress against actress. Everyone wanted to be Scarlett, but only one would get the lead in this epic movie. Sharon Gless plays Carole Lombard, Edward Winter plays Clark Gable, Barrie Youngfellow plays Joan Crawford, and the list goes on. This is a fun little companion film to the rest of the goodies included in this amazing collector’s edition.

Gone with the Wind 75th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray™ and Digital HD with UltraViolet is not only a brilliant high-definition version of the film, but is also filled with plenty of bonus features and collectible goodies. Fiddle dee-dee. Just to get through all the bonus features, viewers will need a complete day or two. This is an amazing collection of collectible items and movie history.

The Big Bang Theory Season 7 Combo Pack

bigbangThe Complete Seventh Season of The Big Bang Theory is now available on Blu-ray Combo, DVD & Digital HD. The Combo includes Blu-ray discs, DVDs, and Digital Ultraviolet download and they all are filled with fun bonus features.

The Big Bang Theory is popular sitcom with an amazing and talented cast. The show has made science and being a nerd socially acceptable today.

Season seven opens with Leonard (Johnny Galecki) returning from his expedition, and ends with Leonard and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) getting engaged. In between these episodes are plenty of great comical as well as emotional moments, with wonderful guest stars as well. Big Bang fans know all 24 episodes of the season are worthy of watching over and over again.

Bonus features are numerous and enlightening for fans of the show. Viewers gain a lot of insight into the characters, the actors, and the show with an entire feature showing the Comic-Con panel, which was moderated by Melissa Rauch, who plays Bernadette. The writers divulge intricacies about episodes and the characters.

Another feature looks at the episode in which Howard (Simon Helberg) writes a song for Bernadette. It’s a fun ditty written by the Garfunkel & Oates team of Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome, who have each appeared in the series. The song is touching as well as hysterical and wonderfully executed by Helberg. “String Theory Serenade” was “magical and awesome,” according to writer/producer Steven Molaro. He says it was “one of the coolest, sweetest moments on the show.” And Helberg agrees, saying it was “a rare moment.”

Another bonus includes the three women – Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler) – discussing the scene in which their characters go to an afternoon tea that is filled only with little girls. The three actors selected three of the girls to be their “mini-me” young duplicates and the three little girls take on the persona of the characters for this bonus feature. The three actors divulge what they would say to their younger selves. Rauch admitted she would tell her younger self not to think about growing, because she wouldn’t! Rauch is 4’11” but every inch is packed with talent.

Some of the famous guest stars in the season included James Earl Jones, who was the voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars movies, which are often part of the show. James Earl Jones said “it was a thrill” to be part of the series and Jim Parsons admitted it was “moving” to have this amazing star come on the show. This is a fun feature, which includes a tidbit about Carrie Fisher, also of Star Wars fame. You’ll have to watch it to find out more. There are no spoiler alerts here.

And speaking of Star Wars, another bonus looks at the marriage between the movies and The Big Bang Theory. The show honored the film franchise on “Star Wars Day,” which, as all geeks know, is May 4th. “May the 4th be with you.” In this episode Bob Newhart, who had a recurring role on Big Bang as Professor Proton, showed up as Sheldon’s Obi Wan. It is a touching and fun episode.
And, of course, there is a gag reel.

Between the 24 episodes and the bonus features, this is a must-have for all Big Bang fans.
