The new three-part documentary, The One About Matthew Perry, takes viewers down the dark path of the Friends star. Through clips and interviews with those closest to him, viewers get a deep understanding of the dark side of this beloved actor.

His wish was to be famous, and once he achieved that goal, it wasn’t enough. He had a real illness – addiction. And he knew it. Matthew checked himself into rehabs several times but the illness kept taking its toll and he reverted to his habits.
His sister, Mia Perry Bowick, is a big part of the documentary series. “It’s taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories and what it was like to love Matthew through all the complexity of his life—to see him as a whole person, not just as Chandler, and not just as someone who struggled with addiction. As his sister, he shaped who I am today, the person I strive to be, and the work to which I’ve devoted my life. Matthew had a beautiful heart and a generous spirit, and even in his darkest moments, he could still make you laugh and feel loved. I hope this series gives everyone who loved him, whether personally or from afar, a deeper appreciation for who he truly was,and the legacy he leaves behind.”

On the contrary, it is a depressing look at the man we all knew as Chandler Bing. It is a sad journey through his life from his childhood to his death.

With his addiction, his talent, and a near-death episode that put him in a coma for a long time, this is truly a deep dive into the life of Matthew Perry. It is harsh, reflective, and honest.
