Poo-Pourri Product Review

poo3This is a great product for a somewhat indelicate problem. As the children’s book says, “Everyone Poops.” It’s a necessity. But leaving a sign that you have pooped is not. With Poo-Pourri you can do your business and no one is the wiser.

All it takes is just a spritz of Poo-Pourri into the toilet bowl prior to using it. A protective layer of essential oils forms on the top of the water trapping any unsavory scents below so the only smell is that of the Poo-Pourri.

There are several scents available as well as different combination packages. The original scent is a blend of Bergamot, Lemongrass, and Grapefruit. It’s not overpowering. It’s basically just a fresh smell. And yes, it does trap the pungent odor below the water so it doesn’t escape when flushed. There is also a scent called “Royal Flush” which combines Eucalyptus with Spearmint. “Deja Poo” is a combination of White Flowers and Citrus, and “Trap-A-Crap” is Spicy Orange. “No. 2” is a blend of Berries and Peaches. “Poo La La” combines Peony, Rose, and Citrus. Lavender Vanilla is just that, as is Citrus Mint. “Sh*ttin’ Pretty” is a blend of Rose, Jasmine, and Citrus. “Call of the Wild” is the scent of Ruby Red Grapefruit. Plus, they are continuing to create new scents like “Hush Flush” which is a blend of Wildflowers.

poo2For men there is “Bass Ackwards” which is a blend of Mountain Air and Natural Essential Oils. “Poo-Toniun” is a woodsy blend of Basil, Bay, and Fir. “Heavy Doody” combines Sandalwood, Neroli, and Sea Salt. “Dr. Pott’s Proven Potty Potion” blends Tea Tree, Rosemary, and Lavender.

For kids they have developed “Toot Fairy” which is a blend of Fruity Floral and Citrus. “Super Dooper Pooper” combines Tangerine and Ylang Ylang. And for diaper pails there is the “Little Stinker Diaper Deodorizer.”

The bottles last for many flushes, and there is a small bottle that resembles a mascara tube which is easily transported in a purse so when you leave a bathroom while visiting a friend, you won’t leave any trace of your bathroom activity. When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go. And when you’re on a date or at a friend’s house, well, who wants to leave a nasty smell behind?

master_crapsman_largeBy now you might be chuckling or even laughing out loud. When I first heard about this I thought it was a joke. But then I tried it. It works. Everyone poops. That’s no joke. It’s a reality. And Poo-Pourri is handy when we do.

These ingenious people didn’t stop with the toilet. There is a spray for pets to keep their coats and skin smelling fresh and clean. They have a “Shoe-Pourri” to deodorize smelly shoes, and yes, there is a “Potty Mouth” breath spray.

And, the final piece de resistance is that these products are Made in America!

Mr. Peabody & Sherman Blu-ray+DVD+Digital HD Combo Pack

mr-peabody-sherman-blu-ray-dvd-PS_DVD_rgbIn the late 1950s and 1960s, there was a little cartoon with a genius dog and a cute little boy. Peabody and Sherman were characters created by Jay Ward, who was also responsible for Rocky & Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, George of the Jungle and other legendary animated characters. Now the folks at DreamWorks have introduced Mr. Peabody & Sherman to a whole new generation, and reintroduced them to the rest of us, in a fun, creative, and very witty way.

Mr. Peabody is a genius. He’s an inventor, a scientist, and an all-around know-it-all. He adopted a baby about seven years ago and since then Sherman has been his pride and joy, as well as a receptacle for his knowledge. Well, as much as any preschooler can be. Then when Sherman finally goes to school, their lives change dramatically. A little girl named Penny bullies Sherman and he loses control after being taunted. The powers-that-be reconsiders whether Mr. Peabody is a suitable parent for a human child.

Peabody invites Penny and her parents to dinner to iron out any difficulties. It’s then when Sherman shows Penny the WABAC machine. If you don’t know, WABAC is an acronym for Wavelength Acceleration Bidirectional Asynchronous Controller. In other words, it’s a time machine. No one knows about this time-traveling creation except Peabody, Sherman, and the people in history who have been visited by the two of them during their “fieldtrips” to the past. Penny is a devious little girl and tricks Sherman into taking the WABAC out for a spin. They end up in ancient Egypt where Penny insists on staying. The little boy has no choice but to go back to the present to get help from Mr. Peabody.

MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN

During their adventures they visit King Tut, Leonardo DaVinci, Marie Antoinette, Agamemnon, Odysseus, and by the end of the film Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Isaac Newton, George Washington, Beethoven, and even Bill Clinton make appearances when the WABAC disrupts the space/time continuum. Mr. Peabody and Sherman must work quickly to repair the hole in the space/time continuum and make everything right with the world.

mr-peabody-sherman-blu-ray-dvd-sq1050_s10_f150_cc_rgbThe movie is filled with witty one-liners, making it not only a fun film for kids but also enjoyable for adults. Even if you aren’t too familiar with the characters, this is a cute and creative story. Listen carefully or you might miss some of the humorous comments. “I’ll get you, Mr. Peabody. And your little boy too.” That’s right out of The Wizard of Oz, well, almost. (“I’ll get you, my pretty. And your little dog too” was the actual line in Oz.) That is just one witty little piece of this adorable story.

The Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD pack includes several bonus features, including some interesting featurettes. There is a tour of the WABAC and another featurette includes actual scientists discussing theories about time travel and the universe. There are segments from the TV series as well the premier episode of the 1959 TV Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends Show. The history of Peabody and Sherman is discussed, as is a look at DreamWorks and the development of the movie from start to finish.mr-peabody-sherman-blu-ray-dvd-sq1000_s18_f427_cc_rgb Plus, there is a featurette with Mr. Peabody getting his pawprints in cement at the famous Chinese Theater, and a brand new Rocky & Bullwinkle short. A WABAC jigsaw puzzle and a Memory Match (think: concentration) game round out the bonus features.

We all know every dog deserves a boy! Mr. Peabody & Sherman are definitely a great team and the movie is a fun ride through history.

The movie is also available in a Blu-ray 3D+Blu-ray+DVD+Digital HD pack.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman is rated PG for some mild action and brief rude humor.

White Christmas Diamond Anniversary Edition

whitechristmasWhite Christmas is a perennial favorite and an annual must-see in many households. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of this classic movie, the Diamond Anniversary Edition includes some great bonus features. Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, Vera-Ellen, and Rosemary Clooney star in this timeless and beloved film.

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is a fun-filled film with plenty of singing and dancing. It’s the story of two entertainers who met during WWII and continued their friendship and careers together long after the war ended. As a matter of fact, they became one of the most popular acts.

The team gets involved with the sisters of an old army friend. These women are also entertainers. When they all go to Vermont the snow is non-existent which puts the lodge’s future in jeopardy. To make an entertaining story short, they put on a show to help the proprietor, who happens to be their old army general.
The story and the music are wonderful, and the bonuses add greatly to this edition. There are five TV appearances with Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby singing holiday songs, one of which is a “virtual” duet with Crosby and Michael Buble from 2012. Hey, with technology they can do almost anything these days! There is a 1976 version of Bing Crosby crooning “White Christmas,” a 1948 appearance of Crosby singing “Silent Night,” a 1963 jazzy duet with Danny Kaye and Nat King Cole singing “Jingle Bells,” and from December 1965 Danny Kaye recites “A Christmas Carol.”

There is also a new option to sing-along with the musical tracks with subtitles in case you don’t know the words, and new photo galleries. These are the new bonuses created for this special edition. Previously released bonuses also included are featurettes about Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, and Rosemary Clooney. One of these featurettes takes viewers to Kentucky and the home of Rosemary Clooney, which is now a museum. One looks at how White Christmas was re-imagined for the stage. And the treasured title song itself is the subject of a special featurette. There are stories from behind the scenes of the film, and Bing Crosby’s family talks about their memories of him.
What many viewers might find interesting is the featurette about Danny Kaye, who was multi-talented, to put it mildly. There is also a documentary about Assignment Children, from UNICEF. Danny Kaye was the first Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, and in honor of this anniversary of the movie, The Danny Kaye and Sylvia Fine Kaye Foundation and Paramount Pictures are contributing a total of $100,000 to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. For more information on Danny Kaye, click here. (/entertainment/the-best-of-the-danny-kaye-show-on-dvd/)

The Blu-ray combo pack includes a Blu-ray disc of the film with the bonus features, a DVD version of the film and a DVD of most of the bonus features. There is also an amazing Christmas CD with 12 holiday songs from Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, and Judy Garland. Among them are some never-before-released tracks.

  • Winter Wonderland – Rosemary Clooney
  • Deck the Halls/Away in a Manger/O, Little Town of Bethlehem/The First Noel – Bing Crosby
  • Waltz Around the Christmas Tree – Danny Kaye
  • Marshmallow World – Bing Crosby & Ella Fitzgerald
  • The Christmas Song – Rosemary Clooney
  • Just What I Wanted For Christmas – Bing Crosby
  • Santa Claus Is Coming To Town – Rosemary Clooney
  • Jingle Bells – Danny Kaye & Peggy Lee
  • Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – Bing Crosby & Judy Garland
  • Home For The Holidays – Rosemary Clooney
  • Some Children See Him – Danny Kaye
  • The Night Before Christmas – Bing Crosby

With a cute story, a talented cast, and songs like “Sisters,” “The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing,” “Love You Didn’t Do Right by Me,” and “White Christmas,” this is one film that stands the test of time. It’s truly a wonderful film for the whole family.

Besides the three-disc Diamond Anniversary Blu-ray Edition set, the film is also available as a Diamond Anniversary Edition two-disc DVD set.

White Christmas is not rated however it is suitable for all ages.
