There’s not much new a company can do to a toaster oven. Or is there? Hamilton Beach has an “Easy-Reach” model, and it is definitely a step forward in the world of toaster ovens.

 

The roll-top door makes it easier to reach inside the oven to work with whatever you are baking, broiling, or toasting. The rack is large enough for four slices of regular sized bread or a 9-inch pizza. And the product is very attractive.

So, you might be thinking, why do you need a roll-top door? You might not, but it does come in handy for a variety of things, not the least of which is removing the contents from the oven. Besides this feature, the oven has a 30-minute timer and settings for baking, broiling, and toasting, as well as a baking pan and broiling rack. The rack can be placed on two different levels in the oven.

 

Okay, so now you’re thinking that this is a pretty cool idea, right? With easy access to the contents of the oven as well as easy cleaning, this is a nice little unit.

I have some great recipes that really benefit from the roll-top door. One is what I call, “cottage cheese toast.” This is something even kids enjoy.

To make “cottage cheese toast,” simply spread a layer of cottage cheese on a piece of bread. Then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Place the bread in the oven and broil until the cinnamon sugar has melted and the cottage cheese is hot. Remove the cottage cheese toast. Now here is where this Easy-Reach Toaster Oven comes in handy. With other toaster ovens this requires some maneuvering so the cottage cheese doesn’t spill over the bread. And believe me, I have had plenty of cottage cheese spill in my toaster ovens. With the roll-top door, it’s easy to retrieve the toast without any difficulties. And, during the heating process it’s simple to add more cinnamon or even test the temperature of the cottage cheese without having to remove the toast.

 

Try this recipe and your kids will thank you. It’s a great breakfast or after school snack. While I cannot take credit for inventing this delicacy, I can say it is something my family has enjoyed for many years.

And switching the tools is easy. There is a crevice tool, a mini motorized tool, and a combination accessory tool. What is important to me as well as other allergy sufferers is the way it easily empties directly into a trashcan. No mess. No bags. Just click the button and release the dust. And there will definitely be a lot of dust. This powerful unit picks up even microscopic dust. Allergy sufferers take note. This is an important element to the vacuum. You will be breathing easier when the junk is out of your floors, upholstery, and other areas.

Perhaps you’ve seen these fans in stores or even on television shows. They are becoming quite popular and for good reason. The Dyson Cool fan is an effective as well as safe way to cool a room and now the new Dyson Cool is even quieter than the previous models. As a matter of fact, The Noise Abatement Society awarded their “Quiet Mark” to the new Air Multiplier technology used in the new generation of Dyson fans. In these days of being bombarded everywhere with noise, the quieter a fan is, the better. Face it, everywhere you go people are talking on their phones, cars are roaring down the street, and radios are blasting.  The last thing we need is a noisy fan. But what we do need is a fan that works. And this Dyson Cool is both quiet while providing a steady stream of cool air. Summer is coming, so this is the perfect time to start thinking about ways to cool off.

 

With no blades or wire cages to catch little fingers, the Dyson Cool fan looks like it came off the Star Trek Enterprise. It consists of a base and a top. The top is a technically advanced way of collecting air and channeling through the aperture to then blow out, or project, a powerful high velocity airflow. That’s as technical as I can get, but the 65 engineers who worked on this product figured out a way to make this space-age machine work even better than the fans we are used to.

 

This fan is easy to use. There is a small remote control which you can keep next to you and when you need some air, just push the button. I keep mine on my desk and the fan is across the room. When the room gets stuffy or warm, I just press the button and in a moment I am cooled down, without the noise of whirring or blowing. It is not absolutely silent, but it sure is quieter than any other fan I have ever used.

 

What is cool (excuse the pun) about this product is the design. It can fit into any environment and looks like a piece of art. Really. And with no blades to clean, it is easier to manage. It was always a nuisance to stick my hands through the grill of my old fan to dust off the blades. With this unit just take a cloth and gently wipe around the aperture.

The safety issue of this product is something families with young kids should keep in mind. Without blades, little hands and fingers will stay safe.

 

In these days, when we are all trying to save money and electricity when the power grids are running low, it makes sense to turn off air conditioners and cool the one room in which we all gather. That is usually the room with the television, or the kitchen. Why not set up the Dyson Cool and use that instead of running the a/c? Once you try it you will see how powerful this little unit really is. It is truly energy-efficient. And, it has a timer so it can be set to turn off after preset intervals.

 

As someone who continually receives products to test, I can in all honesty say this is one item I will be using. Why do I like it so much? Because it is aesthetically beautiful, it is the safest fan I have ever used, it is quieter than any other fan I have used, It is easy to clean, I trust the Dyson name, and it does a great job. No, I am not being paid by Dyson to write this. I honestly feel it is a wonderful and useful product.

You have probably heard of the Dyson name. The Dyson vacuums use the patented Root Cyclone technology. In 2006 they produced their first handheld vacuum, the DC 16. In 2011 they launched the Digital Slim handhelds, and in 2014 they just produced their latest and greatest – the DC 59.

 

According to Dyson, this new vacuum has three times the suction of other cordless handhelds. I’m not one to take anyone’s word for it so I decided to put this little machine to the test.

First off, it’s easy to hold. The handle is comfortable and the buttons are easy to press. And once the button is pressed you can hear the power of this machine. So, to see how well it actually sucked up debris, I first used another kind of cordless handheld vacuums. You know the kind. They are small and portable, and inexpensive. It worked fairly well, but then I used the DC 59 and a lot more debris was sucked up. I couldn’t believe how much stuff was in the Dyson bin even after the area had been vacuumed by another device. Dyson packs a lot of suction into this machine.

The DC59 has a cleaning time of 26 minutes, which is enough to clean most apartments, condos, or homes. It’s also great for RVs too. Even after many minutes, the motor doesn’t slow down. The DC59 continues its voracious work on carpet and hard floors for 26 minutes without letting up on power.

 

 

 

Emptying the see-through bin is quick and easy. A push of a button releases the dirt directly into a garbage can.

 

When the MAX button is pushed, this little vacuum increases its power for those especially dirty areas. It stays on until the button is pressed again. And let me tell you, when it is on MAX, the suction power is amazing. When on MAX, the battery most likely won’t last the full 26 minutes. The DC59 might be a little louder than other handhelds, but that’s the power you’re hearing. It’s easy to hold and maneuver, and lightweight (4.65 lbs.), so a little noise is worth the cleaning power this provides. And the battery charger has qualified for the Energy Star rating, because of its energy efficiency.

The DC59 Animal comes with a docking station that can be easily attached to a wall to hold the machine and the attachments. A crevice tool, a smaller head (for steps, etc.) and a mini motorized tool for upholsteries along with the DC59 are all included in the box.

 

 

The design of this machine is weighted and balanced so it is just as easy to hold down on the floor and up when reaching ceilings and high areas. I personally love that this is easy to use on ceilings so spiders and other bugs – yuck – they love to walk on ceilings making them difficult to get – can be easily reached with this machine. Finally there is a way to reach them without squishing them on the ceiling or top of the wall. I know to some readers this isn’t a big deal, but to those of us who hate smashing bugs, this is a great feature. The attachments just click onto the machine.

The Dyson DC59 also comes with a 2-year parts and labor warranty. Remember to register your machine when you get it.

 

How else can I describe this really remarkable cordless vacuum? It is kind of space age looking and the main color is kind of purplish (which is not my favorite) with dark grey handle. However even with this color, the DC59 has now become my favorite cordless handheld vacuum. And yes, I can honestly recommend it to all my readers without hesitation. The performance lives up to all of Dyson’s hype.

This floor-to-ceiling machine does the job.
