In Your Eyes – DVD Review

iye cover emailIn Your Eyes may start out a little slow, but it quickly becomes a mesmerizing tale of life, love, and trust. There is a quality to this story that keeps viewers hanging on.

Rebecca Porter (Zoe Kazan) is a lost soul. She’s married to Phillip (Mark Feuerstein) a controlling man that brings stability to Rebecca’s life yet smothers her at the same time. Rebecca and Phillip live in New Hampshire.

Dylan Kershaw (Michael Stahl-David) is an ex-con struggling to put his life back together but is hampered by his attitude and his friends who want to pull him back into a life of crime. Dylan lives in New Mexico.

So, what do these two seemingly separate people have in common – a lonely wife in New Hampshire and an ex-con in New Mexico? That’s the key to this interesting story. They can see through each other’s eyes. And not only that, they can feel what the other is feeling. And soon they discover they can talk to each other even though they are thousands of miles apart.

This mysterious connection is intriguing to each of them, but soon adds to their problems in life. They come to depend on each other for comfort, companionship, and friendship. But they are constantly talking out loud to each other which causes everyone around them to wonder how emotionally stable they are. If they would only put blue tooth devices on their heads so others would think they were talking on the phone, that would solve this dilemma, but they never think of that, or, as they say in Hollywood, the script doesn’t call for that. So, they continue to draw attention by talking out loud to each other and feeling and seeing what the other feels and sees.

Besides forming a strong bond, their feelings turn into romance and even love. And they are positive influences on each other. How is this happening to these two very different people? Is it real?

In Your Eyes is a compelling story for both men and women. It’s highly engaging with characters viewers will definitely care about. The fantasy element along with the romantic element combine to create an interesting movie filled with compassion, sensitivity, and wonder.

Elizabeth Hurley Looks to the Disney Princesses for Inspiration for Her New Role

The Royals - Season 1In the upcoming E! series The Royals, Elizabeth Hurley stars as Queen Helena. This is the network’s first scripted drama series and Hurley is excited to be part of it along with Joan Collins, who plays her mother.
When she got the role, Hurley thought of how she wanted to play the part of the Queen of England. She originally thought, “what would it have been like if Princess Diana had become Queen of England?” As Hurley explained, “Because I felt she was someone we could identify with more because she’s amore similar age group and then her kids would be about the age of these kids now. And so I sort of took some inspiration from her.”

But deep down, Elizabeth Hurley looked somewhere different for inspiration. She looked to Walt Disney. “Of course, what we never got to see with Princess Diana really was behind those closed doors, so all that I made up myself.” And, as she stated, “Some of it we picked from Cruella de Vil from Disney.”

Disney films influences Hurley throughout her childhood. “I think all little girls dream of being princesses,” she said referring to the Disney princesses. “And I remember as a child I used to do an awful lot of play acting. Well, I was always a star, normally [a] royal. My little brother would be my pageboy who would have to shuffle behind me carrying whatever I was carrying. So right from then, I’ve had it in the back of my mind that I’d be a very good queen.

Ms. Hurley admitted she had met some members of the real royal family. “I remember meeting Prince Charles a couple times, because I’m a patron of one of his charities. And I have to say I’m a huge fan of Prince Charles.” Hurley is proud of the heir to the throne and acknowledged, “I’ve always voted him the best dressed man in the United Kingdom, if not the world. His tailoring is impeccable, phenomenal.” And no one can say he doesn’t have the finances for the best tailors.

“I certainly see the royal family as being kind of in show business. … But certainly, I think the ones I’ve met do a phenomenal job of being fabulous to their humble subjects such as myself.”

In The Royals, Queen Helena is trying to keep up a good reputation and keep her children in line. It might be a little easier for her son Liam, the heir to the throne, than her wild child daughter Eleanor.

With Joan Collins on board, there are plenty of comparisons between The Royals and Collins’ series Dynasty. While Collins raises the stratosphere of the cast (she was just upgraded, shall we say, to “Dame” status), Elizabeth Hurley is definitely going to be keeping the series on track. Queen Helena is a bit like Alexis Carrington, of which Elizabeth Hurley says, “I’m kind of delighted by the comparison.”

And, before it has even aired one episode, a second season has already been ordered. The network has high hopes for this show. It contains a little bit of everything – love, hate, lust, revenge, rebellious characters, proper characters, some fun and plenty of drama.

The Royals premiers March 15, 2015 on E!

Pound Puppies: Puppy Love on DVD

poundpuppies

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, love is in the air. And puppy love is no exception. Pound Puppies: Puppy Love is a fun DVD filled with friendship and love.

Five episodes from the popular animated series combine to make this a sweet collection of stories with plenty of star power adding their voices to the cast. Betty White, Jim Parsons, Eric McCormack and Yvette Nicole Brown supply some of the voices in these stories.

The motto of the Pound Puppies is “A pup for every person and a person for every pup.”

In the episode “Toyoshiko! Bark Friend Machine,” the puppy shelter is in danger when a Japanese company wants to create a huge new super kennel on the property. This would destroy the tunnels built by the pups and expose their underground network, not to mention the fact that the dogs can talk,

The Japanese bring with them a little puppy robot that is, in fact, a spy. This little pup is named Toyoshiko, and answers to Toyo. Toyo bonds with the dogs and in the end they learn “a friend is a friend forever.” Even if it is a friendship with a robot!

Besides the five episodes, there is a printable Valentine’s Day Card. Just insert the DVD into a computer to access the card.

Pound Puppies: Puppy Love is fun for kids and with the additional Valentine, they will have a special card to share with a special someone. The DVD is rated TVY7.

The Peculiar Tales of the S.S. Bungalow

A ragtag group of storytellers, musicians, artists and oddballs from the wonderfully ‘peculiar’ Portland, Oregon have banded together to create an 80 minute sea-faring audio narrative for kids and adults alike.

“The story begins on a bustling pier, full of the sights, sounds and smells of a fisherman’s market. Above the din, a voice is heard inviting people to come near an odd and misshapen building: The Museum of Maritime Wonderments and Nautical Oddities — a place where strange and mysterious findings from the Atlantic are on display. A small crowd gathers around to hear the most fantastic tale about a curious old wooden ship and the man who once captained it. Join the crew as they transform a creaky old boat into the S.S. Bungalow to set sail across the Atlantic Ocean. In their quest to reach the notorious Lullaby Islands to grab the treasure, the intrepid travelers discover all sorts of “Obstacles and Riddles,”“Purple Icebergs” and “Amphibious Legends” before an albatross leads them to meet the fearful “Lullabeans” on the islands where “Monsters Never Sleep.”

Dozens of musicians, artists and actors participated in the making of The Peculiar Tales of the S.S. Bungalow, a seafaring adventure that weaves a fantastical voyage through story and song. Creators Laki Karavias and Jason Reuter gathered the roster, mostly from Portland, but also from a nationwide talent pool. Seasoned voice actor Kevin Barbare delivers the engaging narration. Noted children’s book illustrator Ward Jenkins created the album art. Eric Earley (Blitzentrapper) performs several instrumental and vocal tracks, and gospel singer Liz Vice contributes vocals as a little clown fish with a big voice on “Barnaby’s Song.”

Glistening production and a host of sound effects – the creaking of the ship, the cries of sea birds, whistling toads and the crashing of waves on the deck of the S.S. Bungalow – create a mesmerizing listening experience for the whole family to enjoy together.

We would like to welcome you to come aboard the maiden voyage of the S.S. Bungalow!
